Rosita runs without crutches

a half years ago that the then 9 - year-old Rosita after snake bite us in the hospital as an emergency came. It was too late come. The muscles of the leg had already died and we had to amputate it to save his life. This has put the whole family into shock. Especially the mother reacted hysterically at that time. Their world had collapsed. Meanwhile, of course, all used to it. It went a half years into the country. What's happened since then?
The family has left the jungle and lives in the area of Shell. As so often it is a serious illness and spend the time until recovery, people here to make new contacts. Meanwhile, the parents are living in a school janitor and in a small house on the edge of the school grounds. The father is now and then back in Jungle to sell the house and fields. The family has started a new life. Rosita and still limping around on one leg with crutches or in the schoolyard. It now has a very strong and healthy at massive muscles of the arms. But she can not walk properly.
Although there was a large-scale government campaign to help disabled people. Everywhere in the media, the prostheses were shown, people were free, the wheelchairs, which were distributed and thousands of citizens were given their certificate as disabled people, giving them many of the rules in everyday life. But to Indians seems to have missed the action. All attempts of the family, a prosthesis to get the child failed. So we were asked once again.
And Rosita came after the New Year with Quito. We found a hostel for Indians, where they are supplied only. Otherwise they will quickly fall prey to swindlers. Then she went with her brother, who accompanied her to a foundation. There, the prosthesis was made. After 3 weeks, everything was adjusted, the physical therapist showed her walking and she proudly wore new shoes and new pants. One hardly notices that she has difficulty walking. Two weeks later, she runs about even with other children in the schoolyard. The walking sticks are at home for emergencies.
Thanks to all who are active in such projects . Support We stand where others can not see the need. Thanks for help because we could.
